Chronology of cameras Ernemann

The Ernemann Klapp-Camera Mod. I was introduced in 1901 and lasted until 1926, when Ernemann merged in Zeiss-Ikon. From 1911 the camera was simply called Klapp-Camera. This camera belongs to the type produced between 1907 and 1911, and is probably from the first years of this batch in view of the shutter design, with slit scale on the left side. The camera is made of wood covered with grainy black leather. There is a Newton finder at the top.

The shutter has separate controls for slit width on the right side. The slit width varies between 1 and 90 mm and can be observed in a wheel on the left side; width control is made by depressing a button on this side and then turning the elevated cocking knob. The spring tension is made on the lower right knob with a peep window on the opposite side. The shutter delivers speeds in the range 1 to 1/2500 plus T.

The lens is a Goerz Doppel Anastigmat series III/1 with 120 mm of focal length and maximum aperture of 4,5.
