Le Caplio R5 est construit autour d'un zoom 28 -200 mm (équiv.) très intéressant pour des usages multiples. Il a un très bon piqué, n'a ni distorsion, ni vignettage exagéré. Le bruit est bien maîtrisé quelle que soit la sensibilité utilisée. L'autofocus est rapide, comme la vitesse de démarrage ou d'enregistrement. Le R5 a tout du petit compact pour la photo de rue.
