Chronology of cameras Konica

Traduction de Alphonse Khuu

The strange word "Kanpaï" (pronounce campaï) means "cheers". This camera is extraordinary. Its shapes of an all situation banal compact camera are misleading. Indeed, it is a "do everything" except it is doing more than what we can imagine. Its features are for the most trivial (programmed automatic exposure, electronic automatic built-in flash, fix-focus lens with two automatic settings, double viewfinder), but it also has a function of acoustic release, and a small pod.

On the front, we see a slider with a microphone picture. It can activate a function of acoustic release. On the setup screen, three small drawings appear; they have a form of Pacman, and are of different sizes. It is possible to select one of these Pacman with the Mode button. The size of the chosen Pacman set the level of sensitivity to noise which the camera will release. Small size, high sensitivity. Therefore the Kanpaï will release by itself when a noise with duration of at least 0.3 seconds reaches the chosen level. The highest level is 100 dB, the lowest, about 70 dB. A security device avoids that, in the event of hubbub, the camera release at any time. The camera is testing the ambient noise level and adapts itself its own release threshold to ensure that a 24 frames film lasts twenty minutes.

The Kanpaï is delivered with a small pod, equipped with removable shoes. When the camera releases with the acoustic way, a system of gear around pod nut rotates it on 40 ° alternately on the left or on the right. This will therefore be pan (100 degrees for a lens angle of 64 °) on several frames.

The purpose of this is to offer a camera that works alone (that is perhaps why it has shoes), to use it very friendly in the evenings, the family dinners etc. .. .

Then, cheers...

Konica Kanpai
