Chronology of cameras Chinon
By introducing this splash-proof camera (meeting IEC 529 level 7 standards) at the 1986 Photokina, Chinon entered the market alongside Nikon and its AW-AF, offering autofocus cameras that could handle water exposure. While there were other waterproof compacts available, they were typically fixed-focus or manually focused.
The autofocus on this camera operates from 1.3 meters to infinity. It was released in the French market in December 1986, priced around 1400 francs.
There is also a fixed-focus version called the Splash GX/DX. It was introduced in November 1987 at the SITI Expo in Paris.
