Chronology of cameras Caillon

The Stratus has been manufactured by E. Caillon on the basis of the camera "Jumelle Pliante Serie D" (from the same maker) simply renamed without noticeable change.
It has been sold with the following formats: 6.5x9, 9x12 and 9x14 cm.
On this page is shown a 6.5x9 cm format
The guillotine type shutter is of the prior cocking type by means of a rotating key located on the front plate.
From circa 1917 some characteristics of the Stratus have been modified. The post war production shows an iconometer type viewer called Davanne (with a folding frame and a rear eyecup) instead of an optical viewer.
The shutter speed values are engraved on the ring surrounding the cocking key.
It is this late version which is presented here. It was marketed between c 1917 and c 1926.
