Canon IIB was produced January 1949 to July 1952.
Number of produced specimens: 14,400
For the time, the IIB is an enormous business success.
It is SII to which was added, a magnifying glass of focusing of the rangefinder, started up by a lever made up of 2 parts.
Two specific versions are announced, by a different position of the two screws located under the accessory shoe.
On the first version, the two screws are superimposed whereas over the second, the higher screw is shifted with the level of the accessory shoe.
Principal characteristics:
Serial numbers: 21050 (prototypes) to 42400
Interchangeable lenses generally with the Leica standard screwing of 39mm and coupled with the rangefinder, except for some first specimens.
Rangefinder viewfinder combined for 50mm. No frame nor of correction of parallax. Round telemetric Image.
Magnifying glass of focusing of the rangefinder with 3 positions: F - 1x and 1.5x, actuated by a lever made up of 2 part
Focal plane shutter, allowing speeds of the 1/20s the 1/500s + B, by serrated roller on the hood and slow speeds of 1s to the 1/20s by separated serrated roller, located on the front face of the body.
35mm for exposures 24x36mm
No synchronization
Loading by the sole.
Standard lens: Canon Serenar 50mm f1.9 or 3.5
Engraving “MADE IN OCCUPIED JAPAN” (MIOJ) on the sole.
