Chronology of cameras Canon
The Canon VI-T was produced from June 1958 to July 1960, with a total of 81,765 units (serial numbers 600,000 to 620,000).
Compared to the VT, this new model sees the disappearance of the slow speed adjustment button on the front that its predecessors used. All speeds are now selected using a single dial on the top plate. This dial is designed to accommodate a Canon selenium automatic exposure meter.
Its viewfinder, further enlarged, with coupled rangefinder frames and automatic parallax correction, allows the use of 35mm and 50mm lenses in Leica M 39mm mount. The 50mm view includes a frame for 100mm lenses. Selection is made using a rear dial located at the eyepiece level; additionally, one position allows for a 1.55x magnification to aid in telephoto focusing.
Film winding and advance are done using the retractable trigger located on the bottom of the camera. However, it's also possible to perform these operations using the button located on the top plate. To do this, the button must be engaged by pressing the pusher located at the rear of the top plate.
The build quality of both the body and its lens is outstanding, surpassing even, in my opinion, that of Leica.
