Chronology of cameras Carena

The Vivian is a camera using 110 film. It is unconventional due to its vertical shape, strongly inspired by the stars of the moment.

Made entirely of plastic, it comes in black and red. Fixed-focus, the settings are kept to a minimum, as the only one is the flash activation. The red-eye reduction functionality is rather fanciful.
On the front, a red LED lights up when the shutter button is held down for a little while, indicating the flash is operational when it is on. Pressing for at least a second reduces the red-eye effect. However, the user manual specifies that it's better if the person being photographed doesn't look directly at the camera.

The Carena brand is registered in the early 1950s by Coop, a Swiss distribution group resulting from the merger of several companies.
It concerns photographic equipment. It is renewed several times by Coop, then by Interdiscount, a subsidiary of Coop specializing in the sale of electronic and photographic equipment.

Interdiscount
was created in 1970 and relies on a dense network of branches. In 1973, there were 42 branches throughout Switzerland. Abroad, Interdiscount relies on existing networks. In Germany, in the early 1980s, Interdiscount acquired shares in the struggling company Photo Porst.
