The DC-145 is the big brother of the DC 140 and they were both sold by Aldi Süd at about the same time. Among the major manufacturers, there were few lower end compacts with a lens wider than 35 mm (equivalent), and there were even fewer with a 5x zoom starting at 25 mm (equivalent). That alone would have given it an edge over its competition, regardless of its other qualities. It was also equal too, or ahead of its competition in the pixel count.of its' sensor.
The specifications are, for the most part, identical to the DC 140.
Aldi is a German supermarket chain known for its low prices. Originally, there was a family grocery store taken over by two brothers, Theodor and Karl Albrecht. The name is a contraction of ALbrecht DIskont. The chain has expanded significantly since the 1980s, and now there are several thousand stores selling food and non-food products in many countries, always at low prices and often under their own brand.
