Chronology of cameras Ricoh

The Hanken is a special version of the Ricoh Steky III, created to meet the discreet camera demand of the Japanese police. The name "Hanken" is said to mean "criminal investigation."

There are numerous modifications compared to the original model:

Gray/dark brown or black color.
Addition of a vertical viewfinder.
Modification of the film receiving cartridge.
Large-diameter film advance knob for single-stroke film advancement.
Coupling of the film winding with the cocking of the shutter.
Protection against multiple exposures.
Remote shutter release on top of the camera.

The film spool used is still the standard "Steky" cartridge loaded with 16mm film.
The lens remains the Stekinar 25mm with fixed focus from the Steky, it's just color-matched to the camera.

There's another model based on the Steky II, but it lacks the dual viewfinder.
Very few Hanken cameras remain in existence today.
