Chronology of cameras Minolta
The Alpha-9 (name of the Japanese version, also known as Dynax 9 in Europe and Maxxum 9 in the USA), is the top-of-the-range camera in the series.
It's not the most advanced, however, as model 7 (the mysteries of Minolta's numbering ...) will include even more features.
Nevertheless, it's a superb machine : Tropicalized magnesium body, 100% diopter-corrected viewfinder, automatic measurement start-up by touching the handle or bringing the eye close to the viewfinder (disengageable "eye start" system), all the refinements of multi-zone metering (14 segments, choice of global, central or spot metering), 3-segment predictive autofocus (single, continuous or automatic), built-in motor for 2 to 5.5 fps, built-in flash with 2nd curtain triggering, wireless external flash control capability, exposure compensation by 1/2 or 1/3 EV on exposure and flash metering, and, cherry on the cake . . a record speed of 1/12,000 of a second !
For the little pro extras : viewfinder glass can be changed, shooting parameters can be memorized for 7 films, and 21 customizable functions are in your hand.
Another must-have accessory is the VC-9 grip, which allows control in portrait mode and the use of other batteries.
A beautiful, solid, powerful and complete camera, a total success.
