Chronology of cameras Ilford

The resemblance to the Penguin Kershaw is striking. This is easily explained. Ilford was a producer of chemical but not cameras and has subcontracted manufacturing (we have already seen the example of the Spotman made by Dacora). In this case the manufacturer is, for sure, Kershaw.

The design is amazing (which makes it very recognizable). The metal body is completely covered with a "frosted" black paint. If we look at the state of devices nowadays, one can say that it was very solid.
Opening is automatic. To do this, simply release the bed by pressing the lock. The struts are very ornate. The lens / shutter block is made of bakelite.

The adjustment of the distance is done by moving the entire block, by means of a cursor marked  6, 10, INF. (the scale is in feet of course). This is to say that the distance setting was approximate.

The speed adjustment is achieved by rotation of the ring around the block. A small window on the front of the block shows whether you chose B or I. Obviously,  this window is almost useless because illegible by the photographer.

The shutter release lever is unusually long.

A plate screwed on the body indicates that this is an Ilford camera. On the Penguin, one can see three screw points.
The back is completely removable and there is a system to facilitate the removal of the rollfilm.
