Chronology of cameras Krauss E.

The name Ekalem comes from E Krauss Lemaire. The Baille-Lemaire company started by making tin objects (1850) and then cut metal objects. Since 1893, the company was specialized in marine and theater binoculars , and after the First World War came to propose a series of foldings using roll films , roll films and plate and small plate cameras  .... The optician Boyer shows a number of them in its 1930 catalog (Lemaire also marketed prism binoculars and topographic equipment.)

The optician Krauss also mounted its lens on Lemaire cameras, thus selling them under the name of Ekalem.

André Lévy, former commercial at Lacour-Berthiot, who headed the Lemaire company bought Boyer in June 1, 1925. The cameras are then identified by the name "Boyer" molded into the lens holder.

Probably to honor orders placed previously, the optician Boyer thus delivered some of its cameras to Krauss, colleague and competitor ...

With its leatherette and Compur, the copy presented was "top of the range", as all cameras proposed by Krauss.

The stand is still pierced with the letter L, which shows that this device is contemporary of the fusion of Lemaire with Boyer.

The focus index is at the end of the slide and moves automatically when the lens holder is moved forward. Note the drawing of a bee, which was the hallmark of Lemaire, and reminds undoubtedly the "Baille" from the beginnings.
