IX Lite est la dénomination américaine. Cet appareil s'appelle en Europe, IX 7.
Le premier Eos IX, sorti en 1996, était dans la gamme l'équivalent d'un Eos 50. L'IX 7 correspond à un Eos 500N. Il exploite au maximum les possibilités de mémorisation des conditions de prise de vue que permet le format APS et en cela ne diffère pas de son aîné. La différence notable est un obturateur moins rapide.
Le dos de ce modèle ne s'ouvre pas, car la cartouche APS s'insère film entièrement rentré. Donc, à main gauche, une petite partie du capot se soulève et on glisse la cartouche de haut en bas.
