This 9 x 12 cm format device could pass for a small and very simple tourist camera, but the name and layout of the focusing rail suggests something more original.
The lens stand moves up to two preset positions, and a plate reads "Châssis & Magasin"(meaning in French Plate holder or magazine) .
The specimen presented here, No. 1735, is equipped with a removable back receiving a single framed ground glass, and in this configuration, the focus goes down to 35 cm. It is likely that this unit could receive a "Sinnox" magazine therefore exposing the plate at the back of the magazine, which would justify the second position for the focus.
The manufacturing is high quality, with very nice wood covered with morocco, and nickel plated fittings.
Finally, a very endearing device that keeps a good part of mystery ...
