Chronology of cameras Barbier et Thierry
Barbier et Thierry did not demonstrate great originality in the naming of their models. They were simply designated by a letter of the alphabet, in alphabetical order corresponding to their position in the product range.
It's important to note that both a model A could be found among the Folding and the Folding pliante.
Model A in the Folding Pliante category, which also turns out to be a view camera with a format of 10 x 15, is also available in a horizontal format—a feature not present in all folding cameras of the brand. However, upon closer examination of the catalog, it becomes apparent that model B is, in fact, the horizontal version of model A. Therefore, the 1927 catalog has some inconsistencies.
Now, let's return to model A. It is crafted with very typical features for that era, and there is nothing particularly noteworthy about it, except perhaps for the lens model.
E. Barbier and G. Thierry are mentioned together in the photographic industry indicator of January 1929, for photographic cameras and accessories. From 1931, the business name becomes G. Thierry and Co, successors.
Starting from 1932, phonographs are added to the advertisements.
After 1934, nothing more is mentioned.
