Chronology of cameras Minolta

The classification used here is adapted from those of Wolfgang Huller and Andrea Apra ', which is  serving as the basis for data from the Minolta Manual Focus Collector's Society.

The second version of the 35 D, called type b in our filing system, differs very little from the previous one: in fact, only the format of the exposing window is changed from 24 x 33 to 24 x 34 mm. This last format will be the maximum that will be made by Mr. Tashima to get closer to the 24 x 36 standard, as far as the Minolta 35 up to 35 IIB are concerned. It will need the release of the Memo in 1949, a compact camera, for Minolta to join the herd closely watched by Mr. Kodak!

This second series will receive a "mushroom" surrounding the trigger button , whose collar is lowered (about 2 mm in height), but we know that some 35 D (type a) already had this characteristic. Substitution of part or real series? Impossible to know, this element being easily dismountable.

This copy is engraved "made in occupied Japan" under the body.
