Chronology of cameras Canon
This 6-megapixel digital SLR closely resembles the brand's film SLRs from the same period. The controls are organized in the same way on both film and digital models.
Of course, there is one obvious difference: a 1.8-inch screen on the back, which doesn't exist on the film versions. This screen has only 118,000 pixels. It allows viewing the current shot and already taken photos. The settings are displayed on this screen.
With this new model, Canon intended to make a strong impact with its announced selling price. For the first time, a digital SLR was priced below the symbolic threshold of 1500 euros (equivalent to 10,000 francs). Thanks to the reduction in production costs, Canon even lowered it to 1200 euros. To achieve this, Canon repurposed many components from higher-end models, which, while maintaining a high level of quality, reduced the research budget. The camera shares many similarities with the Canon 10D.
It is possible to record in JPEG or RAW or both simultaneously.
It was sold in a kit with an 18-55 mm zoom lens (to be converted to obtain the 35mm equivalent, i.e., 28-88 mm) for about 1000 euros. The software provided with it included: PhotoRecord, PhotoStitch, Remote Capture, and Photoshop Elements.
It can be found in black or silver.
