The design of this camera is indeed remarkable!
It is a large-format camera that can only be used on a tripod due to its weight and size. It allows for vertical and horizontal shifts, as well as vertical (+45 mm, -25 mm) and horizontal tilts (50 mm). This capability makes it an excellent choice for studio photographers, document reproduction, and landscape photographers seeking to correct perspectives. Alpa mentions its use by photographers at the National Library of France.
The name XY signifies the tilt possibilities in both axes.
It has been succeeded by the 12 Plus model.
