Chronology of cameras Schmitz und Thienemann
Schmitz & Thienemann, from Tharandt in Germany, are known for having made a series of small format box-form reflex plate cameras in the early 1930s.
The Meteor-Reflex was made around 1931 and was designed for 6.5 x 9 cm plates. The square box-form body is made of light wood covered in grainy black leatherette. The front is made of metal. Focusing on the rear screen by pressing half way down the trigger on T, which raises the mirror. Further pressure triggers the shutter.
The shutter is a self-cocking Gauthier Pronto delivering speeds in the range 1/25 to 1/100 plus B and T. The lens is Meyer Trioplan with 10.5 cm of focal length and maximum aperture of 4.5.
