The PowerShot S series cameras are getting closer to those of the S2 series, but they are much more compact. They almost reach the standard dimensions of compact cameras. Naturally, certain features had to be sacrificed to achieve this. So, goodbye to the optical viewfinder, accessory shoe, and several adjustment buttons. Canon has come up with a very clever strategy: the ring at the base of the lens serves many purposes, depending on the context. In Automatic mode, it allows you to choose the zoom focal length. In P, S, A, or M mode, it allows you to select the speed, aperture, sensitivity, exposure compensation, white balance, or manual focus. The choice between all these possibilities is defined by a "Ring Func." button located above the camera.
The image quality is very good. The S95, although very small, is a very good camera.
