Le Powershot SX50 HS fut le premier appareil compact a avoir un zoom avec une amplitude de x50. Les focales vont de 24 à 1200 mm (équiv. 35 mm). On comprend que son nom provient de ce coéfficient. Il sera remplacé en 2014 par le SX60 HS, avec un coéfficient de x60 (21 - 1365 mm). Ils sont fous ces japonais !
