Peu encombrant, bien fini et particulièrement beau lorsqu'il est en livrée noire, le Caplio R2 est fidèle aux traditions Ricoh ; il a donc un zoom avec une véritable focale de grand-angle. La sensibilité maximale de 800 ISO est quasiment inutilisable par l'excès de bruit qui l'accompagne.
Ce modèle présente l'originalité d'être mis sous tension grâce au repose-doigt chromé qui se trouve sur la façade.
