Chronology of cameras Canon
Traduction de Manuel M
Between 1992 and 1998, Canon marketed this autofocus reflex camera for expert users.
Except for more modest construction (body out of polycarbonate without thorough sealing) and with the presence of an integrated flash, this camera was equipped with all the improvements of an professional camera, since the blast mode at 5 images a second until the evaluative measure of the light on 16 areas and at the shutter speed climbing to the 1/8000. It is also equipped with one very innovating system of focusing by autofocus system controlled with the eye. On the EOS 5, there are five collimators. On the Canon cameras which will start again this principle thereafter, the number will be increased by it.
Its viewfinder is large and clear and its clearing ocular is valued by the holders of glasses.
In addition this superb camera was marketed with a trans-standard zoom 28-105 mm (to competition the range of variation went at that time from 28 to 80 or 85 mm) which combines an excellent optical quality, a fast and quiet autofocus system and a selling price relatively contained. Equipped with this only optics it was already a camear with to do everything, but of course it could also receive the innumerable Canon lenses, so that very quickly the EOS 5 became a second even a third body for much of professionals beside the prestigious EOS 1.
Interchangeable glasses of viewing and a vertical handle (VG10, without battery, the camera being fed by a 2CR5 battery) supplement the possibilities of a camera whose only defect (!) is the brittleness of the main selector, which can break if one makes a false handling with the startup…
The EOS 5 was marketed in North America under name EOS A2.
