Chronology of cameras Nikon

The F55 is part of this breed of SLRs that appeared from the years 1990/95, when it was almost impossible to buy a camera without a kit including one or more zoom lenses. If we refer to the Camara catalog from 2003, the F55 was sold either with a 28-80, or with a 28-80 AND a 70-300 mm.
Although it may sound like a good deal for the consumer, the zooms sold in these kits were generally very basic.
Another characteristic of the SLRs from this period is the gradual removal of metal in their manufacture.

The body is very complete, featuring functions which a few years earlier were reserved for the professional range.

Price of the 28-80 mm kit: 299 euros in 2003
Price of the 28-80 and 70-300 mm kit: 399 euros (only 100 euros difference for a 70-300 mm zoom)
