Cet appareil est marqué "made in Germany US-Zone", ceci sans doute afin de lever toute ambiguïté sur une possible fabrication en DDR (ex-zone soviétique). En 1954, les époux Rosenberg viennent d'être assassinés, et la "chasse aux sorcières" s'éternise. Le peuple américain a besoin d'être rassuré sur l'origine de certains biens d'importation.
Le Solida II est parfois difficile à distinguer du Solida I, suivant la variante. McKeown's signale comme différence l'existence d'un memo-film sur la molette d'avance du film.
Il s'agit ici d'une variante avec un viseur central de grande taille
