Chronology of cameras Zeiss Ikon

The Nettar cameras should be considered as more affordable versions of the Ikonta. They follow the same general architecture but eliminate costly features such as high-performance lenses, shutters, luxurious materials, and the latest technical advancements. If the Nettar folding 6 x 9 cm models evolve to incorporate some of the improvements seen in the Ikonta, it generally happens with a time lag.

The successive generations of vertical 6 x 9 cm Nettar cameras are as follows:

515/2 from 1933 to 1938. This is a simple folding camera that can be compared to the Ikonta 520/2. It features two viewfinders, and the shutter release is located on the shutter itself.
515/22 from 1938 to 1945. The shape of the bellows is updated, and the shutter release moves to the camera body. The viewfinder is no longer rectifying. During the same period, Ikonta cameras (521/2) were modified similarly, but they also gained a double-exposure prevention feature.

Manufacturing resumes after the war (1949/52) without any changes and retaining the same model code.

516/2 from 1943 to 1945, with a double-exposure prevention system, introduced in Ikonta cameras in 1938.
517/2 from approximately 1951 to approximately 1956, featuring a top that incorporates the viewfinder.

This classification does not include some models that stand out due to their unique bellows design and both viewfinders. Some have the shutter release on the shutter itself, while others have it on the camera body. It is likely that these models fit in between the first two generations listed above.

Cet exemplaire, très rare, est identique à l'Ikonta (521/2), et pourtant c'est bien un Nettar (516/2) !

Sur certains exemplaires de ce modèle, le carter de protection du système anti-double exposition peut être de couleur noire.
