Chronology of cameras Clarus
Traduction de Manuel M
This American firm, based in Mineapolis, produced only this camera, probably inspired by Perfex 33.
Heavy, of beautiful construction, beautiful and original, it could have met success…
But the morbid weakness of its shutter decided some differently. Ceaseless returns to the factory tarnished the reputation of the brand, which went bankrupt in 1952.
Most cameras preserved by the collectors always suffers of this laziness.
At least three versions of this camera were manufactured.
Some characteristics….
- 35mm for exposures 24 X 36 mm
- Clear viewfinder separated from the viewfinder of focusing
- Telemetric centring with focusing coincidentally of half image.
- Speeds of the 1/25 with the 1/1000 second + B.
-Accessory shoe welded
- Shutter release with intern socket for cable release
- Serrated roller of advance of film and cocking of the shutter, coupled to a mechanical exposure counter
- The back opens entirely by hinge
- Serrated roller of rewinding on the left side of the hood.
- Horizontal focal plane shutter, textile curtains.
- Interchangeable screwlens Velostigmat WOLLENSAK F 2.8/2 inches (50mm)
-Direct access with the adjustment of the rangefinder by the hood.
- Body entirely out of aluminum with brushed visible parts. Very beautiful manufacture
The specimen presented here is a first version, with its door of access to the adjustment of the rangefinder.
It carries the n°: 8745
It will follow from there an identical version without this named door “version 2”, then a “version 3” with accessory shoe screwed and not welded.
A recognizable camera between all!
