Chronology of cameras Irwin

Traduction de Sylvain Halgand

One day of autumn 1934, the American destroyer USS Grant made stopover near Douarnenez, following a damage of machine. It was initially to take part in a naval parade in front of Brest. On board, was the second class sailor Irwin, impassioned of photography, whose dream was to manufacture its own camera. The problem is that a pay of sailor of US Navy does not carry out far in the realization of the dreams. The time of repair, the sailors traversed by broadside the streets (inclined) of Douarnenez. Some fell under the charm from the Penn Sardin. It was the case of the sailor Irwin . Its dulcinée invited it to visit the factory where it worked. Its work consisted in putting out of box excellent sardines fished at Douarnenez. Irwin at the time of the visit was astonished by the format by the sardin can used in Brittany and France. The sailor is unsteady and a few days afterwards, it met a lacemaker of Tréboul. While going, in the girl, it notices the reels of wire, of which the axis drink some widened at the two ends. A sunstroke (or the brandy abuse of cider, the history does not keep trace of the exact reason) led Irwin to associate sardine box and winds of wire, to make a camera of it (!).
Returned in the USA, having left with their false hopes the Breton young people, Irwin, his time in Navy finishes. Meanwhile, photographic industry had developed dimensioned of Chicago (abolished prohibition, something had well to be found to make in this village), and it is there that Irwin went to seek some associates in evil of money bleaching. It was thus the Maffia of Chicago which organized a traffic of sardine box between Douarnenez and the USA to manufacture these apparatuses. On the other hand, the objectives were manufactured in Chicago. In order to mislead the FBI, they were marked New York and not Chicago. Elliot Ness had tough resentment.

Here in some lines, summarized ignored history of Sardin Edge Camera. I hold it of my back grandfather, sardin fishman of Douarnenez, and hitherto ever told.

This history is…. a history, only a history, which proves that with conviction one can tell any sh.. on Internet. There, it is beautiful. Excuse is delirious it. Make starts to me from your reactions.

To become again more serious, this camera was worth $2,98 in 1939. In the same mark, one finds

  • Kandor Komet (like Kandor, but with three openings) $3,98
  • Lark (like Kandor, but without nut for foot) $2,98
  • Royal of Luxury (like Kandor, with lens Spevar 7,7 and 4 openings) $4,95
  • Dual Reflex camera (form of TLR) various lenses
  • Super Tri Reflex camera (form of TLR) various lenses
