Chronology of cameras Stegemann

The Stegemann Hand-Camera acquired metal struts around 1905. It continued being made in the same formats as the previous version but introduced the smaller sizes 6.5 x 9 and the miniature 4.5 x 6 cm. These smaller sizes are rarer than the regular sizes. The basic structure and materials of the cameras remained the same, such as the single pleat leather bellows, the uncovered blackened wooden body, front standard, and shutter. The only minute difference is the screwed folding viewfinder, whereas the previous version would use the slide-in larger optical finders. The camera would remain nearly unchanged until around 1920 when it disappears from adverts.

The shutter is the 2-blind 'Lewinsohn's Doppelrouleau' with external slit control. This specimen is for 6.5 x 9 cm plates (serial 1473), and has a Carl Zeiss Tessar with 12 cm of focal length and maximum aperture of 4.5. According to the data from Hartmut Thiele, the serial number (325645) is from 1919.
