Chronology of cameras Polaroid 

The first SX-70 "Deluxe" was followed by numerous variations, often minor ones. The SX-70 Alpha exhibited here is one of them. Made in 1979, it is functionnaly the same as the SX-70 Model 2 that brought a few enhancements: tripod mount, neck strap attachments, distance scale and split-screen rangefinder in the reflex viewfinder. Made of black plastic, this specimen has been identically restored to replace the original vinyl cover that doesn't age well and tends to turn into bits as time passes.

NB: several years before, distributor Sears already offered another SX-70 Alpha, mainly differing in its looks.
