It was in 1959 that Canon built its first 24 x 36 SLR cameras, and named them Canonflex. These first models had an independent selenium light meter; it was not until April 1962 that the Canonflex RM with an integrated light meter was released. Around the same time, the Canon 7 was released, also with an integrated light meter.
This particular model is equipped with a 50mm f/1.8 lens in the R mount from the Super-Canomatic series.
