Chronology of cameras Carpentier
Traduction de Manuel M
Jules Carpentier started again the workshop of Ruhmkorff (which had worked with Charles Chevalier before opening his workshop in 1855…).
Manufacturer of material of precision, especially of electrical appliance, it is first has to have built a camera of series whose parts can be interchangeable. Curiously, in spite of undeniable success that it obtained in this branch, it built one type of camera.
It is to Carpentier that the Lumière brothers entrusted construction in series of their first cinematographic camera.
An alternative of the Carpentier jumelle camera was built especially for the expedition of Madagascar.
This jumelle camera J. Carpentier with magazine of 12 plates 4.5 X 6 integrated (N° 8002-17) has a lens without brand. Its guillotine shutter has only one speed. The diaphragm is with iris with five non- graduated marks. The lens of right-hand side is used as viewfinder. The ring is used with the change of plates.
