The magnifying glass of focusing of the rangefinder is operated by a new lever made up of only one part.

Many hybrids with III are met. At least, three types of engraving of the hood are identified.
The red point, placed beside “Japan” indicates one “3rd type”, i.e. most recent.
A US model ARMY exists. This mention is then engraved on the sole.
Principal characteristics:
Serial numbers: 61150 to 105800
Interchangeable lenses with the Leica standard screwing of 39mm and coupled with the rangefinder.
Rangefinder viewfinder combined for 50mm. No frame nor of correction of parallax. Round telemetric Image.
Magnifying glass of focusing of the rangefinder with 3 positions: F - 1x and 1.5x, actuated by a lever made up of only one part.
Focal plane shutter, allowing fast speeds, of the 1/25s to the 1/1000s + T, by serrated roller on the hood and slow speeds of 1s to the 1/25s by separated serrated roller, located on the front face of the body.
35mm for exposures 24x36mm
No synchronization, nor socket for flash.
Loading by the sole.

Standard lens: Canon Serenar 50mm f1.9 or 3.5. New superb Serenar 50mm f1.8 is available.
Engraving “MADE IN JAPAN” on the sole.
Compatibility with the fast cocking by trigger, which will be the trademark of several later models.
