Chez Canon, la série des PowerShot G est celle des compacts experts, destinés aux utilisateurs exigeants, mais ne voulant pas s'encombrer d'un gros reflex.
La fabrication est très soignée. Le boîtier est métallique. Les caractéristiques techniques et les résultats obtenus sont très bons, y compris en poussant les ISO. Le zoom est réellement polyvalent, intégrant un grand angle et un petit télé-objectif.
En 2009, il était vendu 440 euros.
