Chronology of cameras Certo

The Dolly is either a klapp (X-shaped struts) or a folding camera. Both types use 127 film, but the first produces negatives of 3 x 4 cm and inherits the name Dolly 3 x 4, while the second produces larger negatives (4 x 6.5 cm).
Both models coexisted in the 1930s.

Each of the two types is subdivided into two models, each with numerous variants depending on the shutter and lens model:

1 The B model of the klapp has focus adjustment through a radial lever.
2 The B model of the folding camera is hybrid: film and plate.

__________

This Model A specimen is likely one of the simplest in the range, lacking a focus adjustment and featuring only three aperture settings: 8, 12, or 18, grouped at the far end of the engraved plate which could accommodate more values. The Gauthier Vario shutter, devoid of a self-timer, has a peculiar feature: with this type of always-ready shutter, winding and triggering occur in quick succession. Here, when inserting a pin or needle into the small hole opposite the trigger, winding always occurs but not the triggering; the camera only triggers when the pin is removed. By attaching the needle to a long thread, one thus has a sort of remote control.

The Dolly 3 x 4 evidently served as a model for the Riken Kinsi.
