Ce premier Canon portant le nom de Canonet a aussi été distribué sous la marque Bell & Howell.
Ce type d'appareil, assez lourd a une très bonne qualité de fabrication.
Doté d'une cellule au Sélénium autour de l'objectif, il fonctionne sans pile.
Le télémètre affiche en superposition une image orangée dans le centre du viseur. Cela ne fonctionne qu'avec une luminosité suffisante.
Doté d'un automatisme débrayable, il faisait le bonheur de nombreux photographes plus à la recherche de qualité que de technicité !
