Chronology of cameras Canon
The Prima series was Canon's line of consumer compact cameras for nearly 20 years. Although the first model to bear the Prima name was the Prima Tele in 1988, the Top Shot in 1986 already foreshadowed the series. In fact, its American name is SureShot Supreme, with SureShot being the American equivalent of Prima.
These cameras are all easy to use (point and shoot), generally inexpensive. They are mostly made of plastic, with manufacturing often outsourced to China.

The Canon range of late 1993 was presented to the French press on August 18th, 19th, and 20th, 1993. Among the new cameras were the EOS 500, the Prima Mini, and the Prima Super 115.
The Prima Super 115 has slightly softened lines compared to its predecessors but still embraces its lineage. To keep up with (or to trigger) the trend, the Prima Super 115 is offered in black or champagne attire. Its zoom range puts it at the forefront compared to what the competition was offering at the time, with many competitors' zooms stopping at 105 mm.
To complete the package, it features a three-sensor autofocus system operating from 60 cm, and even 40 cm in macro position. The metering is done across 3 zones.
The back of this compact camera is adorned with a novelty: a selection wheel, like on the brand's larger DSLR siblings. This wheel allows selection of various modes: sports mode, Predictive autofocus, shooting at one frame per second, fill-in flash, macro, Auto mode, silent mode (S-Auto), Spot (precise distance and exposure measurement at the center of the viewfinder), RT mode (reduction of reaction time between two images), etc. Beyond the wheel itself, there are therefore many functions available, similar to those found on the brand's DSLRs.
