Le Canon Prima Tele est un bifocale : 35 ou 60 mm. Un convertisseur optionnel permet d'ajouter la focale de 75 mm. Il est autofocus et à exposition automatique. Il reconnait le codage DX des cartouches de films. Le flash peut se déclencher automatiquement en cas de lumière insuffisante ou de contre-jour.
